Wow, it's hard to believe that it is the first day of June already. June! This year is simply flying by. Sadly, today also marks the official start of winter even though it feels like I have been freezing my a* off for weeks now, which I don't really love so much. But, nothing I can do about that apart from rug up and look forward to Spring. At the rate things are going, it will probably be here before I know it (here's hoping!).
In late April I resolved that, for the month of May, I wouldn't buy anything that wasn't a necessity. I have tried self-imposed spending bans before and failed abysmally, but am happy to report that this time around, I made it! even though the only way I could do so was to avoid going to the shops on my own, because I inevitably manage to somehow justify new dresses, books etc when I am wandering about with nobody to stop me (my powers of self-persuasion are amazing when it comes to shopping). Even a seeming torrent of emails, texts and mailers from all my favourite stores torturing me with details of their sales didn't dissuade me, although I will say that I came perilously close to buying a pair of shoes. So I am pretty happy with that minor achievement ... and D is suitably impressed. I'm going to see how far I can push the non-spending, although I am still on the lookout for the Perfect Pair of Winter Boots, so my credit card may take a hit in the event that they present themselves in the near future. But, umm, a girl needs winter boots, right? (oh, there I go ...).
D and I are still painting and doing the house thing, and by "D and I," I really mean "mostly D." He's so great. I come home from work in the evenings and he's all perched atop a ladder - calling out "hey baby!" as soon as he hears my key in the door - with the cat poncing about below, her black fur usually streaked with white paint where she has rubbed up against a wet wall (the back of her right leg, which is extremely furry, is currently white). Our latest thing is knocking ourselves out with choosing lights. It is so ridiculously hard! I am useless at doing the whole eclectic-mix-that-comes-together-beautifully thing, so we just end up with a mish-mash of ideas. Heh. I'm sure that we will get there in the end, but for now we just sit around looking at pictures and saying "bloody hell" a lot. Well, I say "bloody hell," D hasn't really picked up that phrase just yet. I can't even imagine him saying it, to be honest!
Apart from that, I am crazy happy that it is Friday and very much looking forward to the weekend! Hope you have a beautiful one :)

have a great weekend! looks like the weather is going to be kind of crappy but i guess that's winter for you.
ReplyDeleteOh, don't mention the winter. Next time I open my eyes will have autumn and I've missed the whole summer. :/ Time really flies! I'm so impressed with that you have managed to not spend money on those things, I'm not sure I could do the same. :) Have a lovely weekend! x
ReplyDeletehope you have a lovely weekend, good luck with the lights :)
ReplyDeleteBloody hell. I think that's a phrase I need to pick up. I'm in the throws of choosing lighting (and faucets and sinks and flooring and tables and chairs and rugs...), and I have no talent for it. I wish I could hire an interior designer to come make my house look awesome. Alas. I do the best I can. It does seem much harder than it should be, though, doesn't it?
ReplyDeletehappy june!! i can't believe it either. crazy! and that flower photo... the prettiest :)
