This past week has been crazy-busy-stressful, work-wise, so I was ridiculously happy and relieved to finally make it to Friday and have a long weekend to boot (thank you for having a birthday, Queen! even if we do celebrate with a public holiday on a different day for whatever reason).
Last weekend, D and I went to the movies together for the first time ever, which was a lovely novelty and even felt a little first date-ish (I couldn't tell you the last time I didn't go to the movies alone!). We watched Delicacy (La Delicatesse), which was sweet, sad, funny and tender, all rolled into one. Audrey Tautou stars as Nathalie, who is a young woman struggling with intense grief after the death of her beloved husband, and Francois Damiens is wonderful and endearing as her somewhat awkward Swedish colleague and unlikely love interest, Markus. We both loved it and, as per usual, Audrey's whole style had me thinking about cutting my hair short even though there is no way on God's earth that it would look like anything other than a crazy mop even in good weather, and certainly nothing even remotely approaching tres chic (to which I say le hmpf).

On Saturdays, D and I like to go out and have breakfast/brunch/lunch (depending on what time we manage to get our act together and leave home), often at a new cafe. Before D moved here, I was very much a creature of habit and had particular places that I would visit each weekend, but you know that you might need a little variation when you get to the point at which staff just say "the usual?" as soon as they see you walk through the door. Anyway. I have a list of cafes saved on my iPhone that D and I are slowly working through, and today we visited PS Cafe in Dulwich Hill for lunch because I felt so drained from this week that I couldn't actually bring myself to get out of bed until 11.00am. Normally I start to feel a little tense about what feels like wasting the day by sleeping in late, but having an extra day off on Monday ameliorated any guilt that I may have otherwise felt. Aanyway. I really loved the cafe. It looked great, the service was super friendly and efficient and the food (and coffee!) was fab. It's also not too much of a pain to get to from home (will refrain from complaining about Sydney traffic), so I think we will be making it somewhat of a regular without being too regular. As always, here are some photos ... these were processed with the vsco iPhone app - I was a little unsure about it at first, but I now love it ...
In other news, we are still working away on our apartment and I am also starting to notice that newlywed weight gain that people talk about, ack! We now buy so much more food, and eat out so much more, than I did when I was living on my own, and apparently I have no self-control when it comes to donuts and Werther's caramels. The other problem is that I have bailed on a whole bunch of gym classes because sometimes it's just so much nicer to go home and see D, or he will be all "come home, I miss you!" and I'll say "hmm-lemmethinkforamoment-okay." So donuts/caramels/etc + less exercise = skinny jeans that feel anything but. So, self-control starts on ... um, Monday. Oh I just remembered that Monday is a public holiday. Tuesday? :)
Have a beautiful weekend!

Love these posts - lazy hazy days of newlywed bliss!. Exactly as it should be. Does it still give you a thrill to write 'D and '...it still feels lovely to read it so it must be the same multiplied by a million to write it. Happy days Natasha - this is what it's all about! Lou x
