Hello! I am feeling inexplicably chirpy today, which is always a nice feeling. And thank you for all the lovely comments on my wedding posts - I had fun putting them together and it was nice to reminisce about the day. In other news:
- D has had Man Flu for approximately two weeks now, poor baby;
- my MacBook Pro has miraculously healed itself after I tripped over a cord and caused it to fall off the coffee table. After The Fall, it refused to close (I may have shed a tear or two), so I left it open for a few weeks (giving it the nickname "The Clam" in the process) and now it is all better! which is crazy great, even though I was vaguely looking for an excuse to upgrade to the new, spiffy, retina display version;
- our cat's new morning routine is to climb onto D while he is still in bed and sit on his chest. The other day, she came into our bedroom only to find that he wasn't there, and she was completely confounded and went around in circles for a bit. So glad that she loves him!;
- I am thinking of taking up running with D as a form of exercise that we can do together. He was all Track Guy in school, so he's going to help me out. I am not expecting anything dazzling, though, as I have tried running many, many times before but invariably wind up almost collapsed in a heap, gasping for air. At the end of my street. Yeah, I can't run very far. I always think that if I was to get chased by a baddie (heaven forbid), I would be totally screwed. But I found some kind of running program online where you slowly build up to being able to run for more than, you know, a minute at a time, so I am going to try that out; and
- apropos of nothing, here are some photos of Central Park ... !

I've recently started jogging and I have to say it's a lot better doing it with someone who is good at. It pushes me to go a bit further before I demand that we walk for awhile! There's an interval training app called 'Ease into 5k' which is supposed to be good, it's a steady way to get your fitness up, much better than my friend's method which was to just make me keep doing until i wanted to collapse!
I will check it out - thank you! :)
The Ease into 5km app is fantastic! I completed the program over summer and managed to run five kms without dying or stopping once which I was amazed at, given I have no natural athletic aptitude. My advice is to go as slow as you can. I read that somewhere in my first couple of weeks and once I realized I didn't have to go fast, it made a world of difference. Yay! Go for it!
Also, hooray for chirpy moods, inexplicable or otherwise! Also, yay for NYC! I am *this* close to booking a flight for this time next year when I finish uni. I want to go for a couple of months but I guess time will tell. Even a couple of weeks will be great. Either way, either length of time, I am going. These pictures just make me all the more determined.
So glad Charley has decided she likes D! Cat relations can rule the house, so it's definitely good news.
I was about to say don't go too hard or too long to begin with but then I read on to find you've already taken the wise step of following a program. the first year I got into running I hadn't really be doing any kind of exercise and running at a probably-too-fast-at-the-time pace I couldn't get past 5x3. In fact to begin with walking quickly left me breathless! but then in 9 months (thanks to a program) I did 3km in 23ish minutes and since then I've done 12km in 1:40ish. So slow and steady and all that.
I think there must be something about the 31st because I felt chirpy today, too!
The cat story is adorable and the photos beautiful. :)
Oh you've made me long to visit New York!
Hello, I have just stumbled across your blog and just had to say how much I love these photos! They are gorgeous <3 Just the sort of photography I would love to be able to do. Will def be following your blog from now on :)
x
How lovely that you are feeling chirpy :)
Photos of NYC always make me happy, it's such a great place for me, associated with so many good memories. I could look at these photos all day...in fact, I have been gazing at them for some time now!! I think photo 8 might even be the spot where I got engaged.....how funny!! XX
You have such a talented eye for capturing all those small details that nobody pays attention to...
Re the running thing... It's hard at the beginning, a real pain in fact (I got short of breath, cramps... I'm not very "sporty") but it's worth the effort!
I came across your blog via Karin A and am just so captivated reading your story about you and the Texan. I only got to a few posts and can't wait to read more. My overactive imagination could never come up with this one! Plus your photos are beautiful. Makes me miss NY!
these are gorgeous :)
hope D is over his man-flu & I have to agree on the running - it will be really hard to start with, but if you persist, you will be pleasantly surprised at how much you improve. When I started a couple of years ago I could barely run around the oval, but I ran 12km last september & will be doing it again this year.
