our wedding | after

After the wedding ceremony, we headed into the city to have some photographs taken before dinner ... basically we just laughed and kissed a lot :)

We held our wedding dinner at Pendolino Restaurant's private dining room, L'Olioteca.  Given the olive oil theme, our place cards were tied to little olive tree cuttings (conveniently, mum and dad have an olive tree in their back yard) with twine.  We also had small bunches of David Austin roses running down the centre of the table together with scattered tealights (vases, tealights and tealight holders all from Ikea).  I loved the way it all came together, and the food and service at Pendolino was faultless and awesome.  I was really, really looking forward to dinner!

D made a little impromptu speech towards the end of the evening, which was really sweet :)

Aaand then we cut the cake!

After dinner, D and I walked through the empty Strand Arcade to make our way to the hotel, which was just across the street.  We emerged outside to find that it was pouring with rain.  We waited awhile for the rain to ease and then ventured out, only to run into my family, who had all decided to stay at the same place as us.  Prior to making their booking, they were all "would that be weird?" and I said "no, of course not," because it was the closest hotel to the restaurant but as it turns out, it kind of was, because we all ended up walking there in a group.  And then, for some inexplicable reason, they all hung around in the lobby while we checked in.  Talk about awkward.  D and I loitered at the check-in desk, waiting for them to basically go away, but no.  They lingered.  So eventually we wandered over, said an unequivocal goodnight and practically ran to beat them to the lifts (because of course they started to follow us).  The funniest part was, when we came downstairs the next morning (to farewell D's family, who was flying out that day), everybody was there, just waiting.  D and I still laugh about it.  We needed some space, so we wandered back to the Strand Arcade and bought some cinnamon toast and coffee for breakfast, and then sat on a bench for awhile before collecting the remains of our wedding cake and then heading to the airport.

And that is the story of our wedding day.  Today is our six-month anniversary! :)

  1. All of these pictures are so beautiful, your photographer did such a great job.

I really love the idea of a small, intimate wedding. I definitely think this is something I would be leaning towards (not that I'm in any position to be thinking about a wedding, but you know).

    So, so lovely.

  3. Beautiful story and wonderful photos! We also stayed the same place as many of our guests as it was part of the centre where our reception was. Thankfully the doors were closed tight behind us so we had a chance to find our room before the guests left. Some of the guests did find our car.....
